The work reflects the human obsession with self and identity. From afar the work looks like something ethereal, upon close inspection fragile and vague. Going beyond the self, our identity is just as fragile as these tracing papers are. Nothing belongs to us, fully, forever. Identity is not something we can own or protect. Reflecting on a form of Thai Buddhist meditative practice in which one contemplates feelings, emotions, body and perceptions as holding nothing beautiful, only what is impure and repellent. This aligns with the Three Marks of Existence: that all things are impermanent, that suffering is inherent to existence, and that there is no fixed self.
